About SEMineral Moldavite

SEMineral Moldavite was founded from a lifelong passion for Czech moldavites, geology, and natural history. For more than twenty years, we have dedicated ourselves to studying, collecting, documenting, and preserving one of the world's rarest natural glasses. What began as a fascination with a unique gemstone gradually became a lifelong commitment to understanding every aspect of moldavite—from its extraordinary cosmic origin to the subtle differences between individual Czech localities.

Moldavite is not simply another gemstone. It is a natural impact glass formed approximately 14.8 million years ago during one of the most significant meteorite impacts in European geological history. A giant asteroid struck the area of today's Nördlinger Ries crater in southern Germany with unimaginable force. The impact melted surrounding rocks and launched enormous amounts of molten material hundreds of kilometers through the atmosphere. During its flight, the material cooled rapidly and solidified into beautiful green natural glass before falling back to Earth across what is now the Czech Republic.

Because this extraordinary sequence of events occurred only once, genuine moldavites are found almost exclusively in the Czech Republic. Every authentic specimen represents a unique piece of Earth's and the Solar System's history that can never be reproduced.

Millions of years of natural weathering transformed these glasses into the remarkable specimens admired by collectors today. Water, sand, soil chemistry, and geological conditions slowly sculpted each stone into an individual work of nature. No two moldavites are identical. Every surface sculpture, groove, spine, bubble, and texture tells part of the story of its geological journey over millions of years.

One of the most fascinating aspects of moldavite is the diversity between localities. South Bohemian moldavites are famous for their beautiful green colours and elegant sculptures, while Moravian moldavites are among the rarest impact glasses in existence. Collectors throughout the world value Moravian specimens for their exceptional sculpturing, unusual shapes, deep textures, hedgehog-like forms, discs, spheres, and other rare natural morphologies that are almost impossible to find today.

Our work is built upon practical experience rather than theory alone. During more than two decades of field collecting and studying authentic Czech localities, we have examined thousands of moldavites from numerous deposits across South Bohemia and Moravia. This experience allows us to recognize natural weathering, locality-specific characteristics, authentic surface sculpture, and geological features that cannot be fully understood from books or photographs alone.

Every specimen offered by SEMineral Moldavite is individually selected. We never treat moldavites as ordinary commercial products. Each stone is evaluated for authenticity, preservation, locality characteristics, colour, sculpture, transparency, rarity, and overall collector quality before becoming part of our collection.

Unlike mass-market sellers, we photograph every individual moldavite separately. The stone shown in our photographs is always the exact specimen you receive. This gives collectors complete confidence in what they are purchasing and eliminates uncertainty when buying online.

Each moldavite is carefully documented with accurate weight, dimensions, locality information, and detailed photographs. Selected specimens are accompanied by additional videos that reveal their natural surface and three-dimensional character from multiple viewing angles.

Every purchase includes our Certificate of Authenticity, confirming that the specimen is a genuine Czech moldavite. The certificate records essential information about the individual stone and reflects our commitment to transparency and professional documentation.

Our mission extends beyond selling exceptional specimens. We believe that preserving knowledge about Czech moldavites is equally important. Through educational articles, locality guides, geological information, and detailed descriptions, we aim to help collectors understand not only what they are buying, but why each specimen is unique.

Many of the localities that once produced extraordinary moldavites are now exhausted, inaccessible, or legally protected. As a result, high-quality natural specimens have become increasingly scarce, making authentic Czech moldavites not only fascinating geological treasures but also highly desirable collector's items appreciated worldwide.

Whether you are purchasing your very first moldavite, expanding a specialized collection, or searching for an exceptional investment-quality specimen, our philosophy remains unchanged: authenticity, transparency, scientific accuracy, and respect for one of nature's most extraordinary creations.

Thank you for visiting SEMineral Moldavite. We are proud to share these remarkable natural treasures with collectors around the world and to preserve their story for future generations.
